The Board of the United Way of Fostoria awarded $10,000 in two Community Impact Grants for its 2023 spring/summer funding.
St Vincent de Paul received $8,000 for beds for needy children and adults in Fostoria. They purchase bed frames and mattresses at a deep discount. The United Way funding will buy about 40 beds.
The Fostoria Learning Center received $2,000 in support of expansion of the popular welding class. Members of the current class will have hands-on experience in building/welding the two additional welding booths.
Applications were reviewed by a committee of community volunteers which recommended funding to the UWF board.
Community Impact Grants address a significant community need in the United Way focus areas of education, health, income stability and basic human needs. Startup projects, expansion of existing successful programs, and/or addressing unmet needs in the community are of particular interest.
The United Way of Fostoria is a charitable organization created by the citizens of Fostoria to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in Fostoria. The funds used for grants come from an annual trust distribution.
