The Frank J. Kinn Leadership Society honors United Way of Fostoria's most dedicated donors—individuals whose generosity sustains our community year after year. Established in 1990 by Frank Kinn, the Society was built on a simple idea: that consistent, committed giving changes lives. Frank led the Society for 32 years, setting a lasting example of generosity and gracious leadership that still shapes it today.
A Legacy in Action: Gene Schalk
Gene Schalk's story is the Society's story. Possibly the longest-standing donor to United Way of Fostoria, Gene made his first gift in 1958—just one year after UWF was founded—and gave faithfully every year until his passing in 2025. A close friend of Frank Kinn's and a fellow pillar of the Fostoria community, Gene carried Frank's legacy forward with the same dedication and heart, even stepping up to serve as Campaign Chair in 2024. His decades of steady, generous commitment stand as a lasting example of what one person's belief in community can build.
Why It Matters
United Way of Fostoria strengthens our community by supporting programs focused on education, income, health, and the social safety net. We fund local nonprofits, award community grants, and connect residents to vital services through First Call For Help Fostoria. Every dollar raised goes directly to support services for Fostorians.
Founded in 1957 by concerned citizens, United Way of Fostoria is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a proud member of United Way Worldwide.
Join the Frank J. Kinn Leadership Society and become part of a legacy of generosity in Fostoria.

We are deeply grateful to every donor who supported the United Way of Fostoria’s 2025 Campaign. Every contribution—no matter the size—makes a meaningful difference.
