Each year, hundreds of individual donations come together to raise around $200,000 in
Fostoria. United Way of Fostoria (UWF) distributes these funds to trusted Agency Partners
that help local residents build better lives.
Black Swamp Area Council, Scouts USA builds character and leadership in youth
through service, citizenship, and career exploration.
DayBreak SAIDO Learning Center offers a breakthrough therapy shown to reduce
symptoms of dementia in older adults.
FACT (Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment) provides cancer patients with
financial help for transportation, prescriptions, supplies, and medical equipment.
First Call For Help Fostoria UWF’s own referral service, connects people with local resources. Call 419-435-2555.
First Step Center for Domestic Violence Services* provides shelter for victims of
domestic violence and related services.
Fostoria Area Habitat for Humanity builds affordable homes in partnership with local families.
Fostoria Learning Center provides training for a skilled workforce and adult education,
including GED, ESOL and literacy programs.
Fostoria Senior Citizens Center provides a much-appreciated social outlet in a pleasant
gathering place for the 50-plus crowd.
Geary Family YMCA receives funding for youth sports, summer camps, childcare, afternoon
school programs, swimming lessons and scholarships.
Getting Ahead helps adult students identify habits and beliefs that are holding them back
and teaches them skills to Get Ahead in today’s world.
Girl Scouts of Western Ohio offers skill-building, leadership, and outdoor experiences for
girls ages 5–17 focusing on individual areas of interest.
HOPE in Fostoria promotes substance abuse prevention and education.
PatchWorks House supervises safe visitation and exchanges for families in crisis.
Red Cross, North Central Ohio Chapter provides emergency aid during disasters.
NCAT (North Central Area Transit, formerly SCAT) provides public transportation for work,
school, shopping, appointments and special events. It transports individuals out-of-county
for medical appointments.
St. Vincent de Paul Society gives a hand up to people in time of need through volunteer
work, donated items, minor repairs, emergency funding – and moral support.
A committee of community volunteers represents you, the donor. They scrutinize each Agency Partner every year to ensure your donated funds are spent wisely and efficiently.
