Fostoria is a community defined not by its challenges, but by the people who show up for one another every day.
I stepped into this role because I believe in what United Way of Fostoria is and what it can become. Many of you know me from my years with First Call for Help, where I saw — up close and every day — what it looks like when a community chooses to invest in its own. That spirit is exactly what brought me here, and it is exactly what will carry us forward together.
This year we are doing things differently. We have set a bold goal. We have restructured our giving levels for the first time in 15 years. We have launched new programs and new partnerships. And we are committed to showing you exactly where every dollar goes — because transparency is not a courtesy, it is a promise.
The work already exists. This campaign is about helping Fostoria see it, believe in it, and invest in it together.
Thank you for being part of this.

United Way of Fostoria doesn't do this work alone — and that's by design. Your campaign gift funds a network of 16 partner agencies, each bringing expertise, trust, and boots-on-the-ground presence to the specific needs they know best.
Rather than duplicating effort, we coordinate it — so a gift to United Way stretches further than a gift to any single organization could on its own. When you give to the campaign, you're not funding one program. You're funding an entire ecosystem of care built by the people who show up for Fostoria every day.
Frank J. Kinn Leadership Society
Fostoria has always had generous people. This year, our giving structure finally reflects that.
For the first time in more than 15 years, United Way of Fostoria has updated the Frank J. Kinn Leadership Society giving levels — raising every threshold and replacing the old tier names with something more meaningful. The new names connect your gift to the legacy of this community, to the people who built it, and to the future we are building together.
We do this in the spirit of donors like Gene Schalk — possibly the longest-standing supporter in UWF history — who made his first gift in 1958, just one year after United Way of Fostoria was founded, and gave without fail for 67 years until his passing in 2025. Gene never gave because he was asked to. He gave because Fostoria was his community and he believed in taking care of it. That is the spirit the Founders level is named for.
These new levels are an invitation — to step into a legacy that people like Gene spent a lifetime building, and to help write the next chapter of it.
Transformational giving named for the citizens who founded UWF in 1957. Donors at this level launch the campaign and set the standard of leadership for the entire community. A Founders Circle gift is a statement that Fostoria's future is worth investing in at the highest level.
Sustaining leaders investing at a generational level. Bridge mid-level to transformational giving.
For those who anchor Fostoria. Gifts at this level fund entire agency partnerships and signal deep, lasting commitment to community health and stability. Cornerstone donors are the bedrock on which everything else is built.
Driving meaningful change across education, health, and financial stability for Fostoria families. Impact donors bridge the gap between aspiration and impact — turning what is possible into what is real.
The entry point to the Frank J. Kinn Leadership Society — for workplace leaders, professionals, and community members ready to step up in a significant way. At less than $20 per week through payroll deduction, this is major giving made accessible.
